The Hobby of Breeding & Exhibiting Rabbits is called 'The Fancy'..

Every weekend, all over the country, rabbit shows are taking place. Many are Local Rabbit Clubs holding their shows in places such as Village Halls. Others are Championship Shows held in Sports Centres and School Halls, with the 2 largest events of the year, the London Championships Show and the Bradford Small Livestock Show, taking place at large venues.

In order to exhibit rabbits in the UK, breeders and exhibitors have to be members of the British Rabbit Council, which enables the purebred rabbits to be registered for the purpose of exhibition. Exhibition rabbits are required to be identified with 'leg rings'. These rings contain information on the year of birth, the breed, and a unique number. Rings are provided only to the breeder of the animal.

It is recommended that any animal sold as a pet has it's leg ring removed as they can become embedded in the animals leg if it becomes overweight, and foreign bodies can also become trapped behind them causing trauma to the rabbits leg.

Show details, show reports and articles relevant to breeders, exhibitors and pet owners alike can be found in the subscription only magazine Fur & Feather--the British Rabbit Councils official journal.
