Our Fur Breeds

We do have one main Fur breed in the shed and that is the Siberian

We were introduced to this breed through acquiring a stud of Golden Glavcots, the Brown Siberian is a fantastic bold rich dark brown colour and certainly ticked boxes for us...especially with the chocolate colour theme running in the shed, Sib's (3rd down) is an amazing character and certainly a favorite with many in the family.

The Siberian does come in 4 colours Black, Blue, Brown and Lilac...they must be of the same shade all over and present a distinct and even 'flecking'. They have a roll back or blanket fur  and when they are turned in a reverse position their fur must give the appearance of having been sheared or pulled (and must expose as few guard hairs as possible). They are neat with moderate length of body, slightly arched back, medium boned feet and legs. Head to be longer more than square with a short neck. Ears 4inches long, weight between 5-7lb.

Once we had the Brown Siberian in the shed...it was obvious with our love for the dilutes the lilac Siberian would come along :) with Laurel Bensons help a beautiful pair of Lilac Sib's winged there way over from Northern Ireland through a sad turn of events with the breeder Trevor Rawlings giving up due to severe health issues, as well as a doe from Laurel, within 6 months the first of our litters were born and with credit to the original stock we have already won 2 stock shows as well as a BiS at a local club.

Our Lilacs have slowed down at the moment not due to me wanting them to lol but we have acquired 6 new brown siberians through the niece of a well respected siberian breeder who had unfortunetly passed away suddenly Gordon Meakins we hope to do both Gordon and Trevors memory proud.

Our other Fur Breed is not something we are actually thinking of having as a stud but she was needed for another project and will stay with us anyway she is an Argente Creme called 'Princess'. A beautiful colour and quite a character in her own way lol (5th bottom left).

20/7/14 - Our latest additions in the shed :) both bucks but both different in coat colour and texture...running on both ready for the London hopefully.

5/5/15 meet this years litters of Siberians, we had a total of 4 lilacs and 8 Browns born in 3 litters :) the most exciting are the 2 lilacs below...here at 4 weeks and with a white under coat which may encourage a very good coat and hopefully work towards a lighter colour overall. We are also pleased to say that a well respected Siberian breeder Rita Allen is dabbling in to Siberians after nearly 15 yrs away from showing and breeding and is working along side Tarax Stud to to promote this lovely rabbit.

17/01/16  OK just to let everyone know that our Siberians have been cut back this year to a very small stud, most of the stock has been passed onto fellow breeders to carry on with or to help start up with new blood lines :) we are not giving up but need to focus on our colour program's for the moment in the Miniature Lops as we are getting side tracked with to many other colours and projects ....(as rabbit breeders this sometimes happens lol). Soon as we can the stud will be built back up but it wont be for this year. If you are desperate for stock or want to make enquiries please contact us and we will help you with you questions or rabbit needs :)

08/07/20 Due to Kims health we have stopped showing and breeding Siberians
